Your journey begins in Agadir, where you depart early in the morning and head southeast through the scenic landscapes of southern Morocco. The drive passes through small villages, arid plains, and the dramatic Anti-Atlas foothills, giving a sense of Morocco’s diverse terrain. After crossing the town of Foum Zguid, you continue toward the Chegaga Desert, one of Morocco’s most remote and breathtaking Sahara regions. Upon arrival, you are greeted by the vast golden dunes stretching as far as the eye can see. In the late afternoon, you can enjoy a sunset over the dunes, capturing the magical shifting colors of the desert. The night is spent in a desert camp, under a sky full of stars, offering a peaceful introduction to the Sahara.
After witnessing a stunning sunrise over Chegaga, you begin your journey back toward civilization, heading to the small desert village of M’Hamid, a gateway to the southern desert. The route winds through arid plains and scattered palm oases, showcasing Morocco’s desert landscapes. From M’Hamid, you continue along the Draa Valley, lined with palm groves, traditional kasbahs, and small Berber villages, offering a glimpse of local life. By the afternoon, you arrive in Zagora, a town known for its desert culture and historic significance. Here, you can stroll through the market, interact with locals, and enjoy an evening surrounded by the serene palm-filled valley. Overnight accommodation is in Zagora, preparing for the journey deeper into the desert.
The third day takes you from Zagora eastward toward Merzouga, crossing vast plains and desert landscapes that gradually transition into the famous Erg Chebbi dunes. Along the way, you pass through small towns like Tazarine and Rissani, where you can see traditional souks and explore historic kasbahs. Arrival in Merzouga is marked by the towering golden dunes that define the Sahara experience. Here, you embark on a camel trek into the desert, riding over the dunes as the sun begins to set. Dinner is served in a desert camp, followed by a night under the stars, with the serene desert silence creating an unforgettable experience.
On day four, after a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes, you return to Merzouga and prepare for the journey westward through the dramatic landscapes of the High Atlas. The route passes through the Todra Gorges, where sheer cliffs rise dramatically on either side of the road, creating one of Morocco’s most spectacular natural sights. From there, you continue to the Dades Valley, famous for its “monkey fingers” rock formations and winding roads carved into the cliffs. Overnight is spent in a local guesthouse or hotel, providing comfort while still immersing you in the unique landscapes of the valley.
Day five begins with a scenic drive through the Dades Valley, offering plenty of photo opportunities of the valley’s dramatic landscapes. You continue toward Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Morocco,” and visit the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its historic earthen architecture and cinematic fame. Crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, you descend into the plains of Marrakech in the late afternoon. The evening is free to relax and enjoy your riad or take a brief stroll in the vibrant city. Overnight accommodation is in Marrakech, preparing for full exploration the next day.

Optional visits include the Majorelle Gardens and Yves Saint Laurent Museum for a touch of art and greenery. The day combines cultural immersion, history, and local cuisine, giving a full picture of Marrakech’s vibrant atmosphere. Overnight in Marrakech.
Depart Marrakech and drive west toward the Atlantic coast, arriving in the charming city of Essaouira. Known for its blue-and-white medina, historic ramparts, and lively port, Essaouira offers a relaxed coastal contrast to the desert and mountain landscapes you’ve experienced.
